I’m probably one of the few people who were really upset about the news that Borders is closing 200 of their stores – including the 4th Street location. I mean, with all of the other things happening in the world, who cares if a book store goes out of business? I DO! I love to read, I always have. I love new books. I love the way the feel, I love the way they smell, I love flipping through the pages, I love lining them up on my bookshelves…I just really love books.
Call me a nerd, but I spend my lunch hour at Borders at least two days a week. The lady at the coffee counter knows exactly what I order and the chairs are really comfy! I’ve still been visiting on my lunch hour these past few weeks, but the atmosphere is totally different. For one, the coffee shop was the first thing to disappear – along with the comfy chairs.
The only good thing about this whole situation is that the books have all been marked way down Good for me because I spend waaaaay too much money at that place (seriously, how can they be going bankrupt with the amount of money I spend there!). When I was there today, it was actually kind of sad! Inventory is low and everything has been picked over. I still managed to find a few books that I just had to have. I’ll let you know if they are any good.
