Location Scouting & Kissy-Faces

Even though our wedding is over a year away, we’ve started the planning process. We’re going to need longer than usual since we basically have one week a month for the next 12 months to get everything accomplished! While we were home in May, we scheduled our engagement photos, got our outfits together, and scouted a few locations.

We knew we wanted our pictures done in the summer so we had limited weekends to choose from since we only get back to the area once a month. Once we confirmed the date with our photographer, we I started planning our outfits for the day. We have two hours so I wanted three outfits, one formal and two casual. My entire wardrobe came from Dress and Dwell. If I ever win the lottery, more than 50% of my winnings will be spent at that store. We stopped at the outlet malls on our way back to Pittsburgh this weekend and found The Boy some new shirts so that he will look all spiffy for the pictures.

Justin suggested Bernheim Forest for our photo location. He worked there while he was in High School so he knew all of the cool places. I’ve only been there once or twice and couldn’t for the life of me remember what anything looked like. While we were in town for Memorial Day we went down and did some scouting. We found some cool spots and took some high quality iPhone pictures so that we could remember all of the places we stopped in.

Prepare yourself...we are super photogenic people :)

Justin's best kissy-face
We're weird like that...

Engaged/Married People: Do you have any tips or tricks we should keep in mind during our photo session?

Do you live near a state park?
I really want to go back and run some of the trails we saw while we were at Bernheim!

Mom Came to Visit!

Did I ever tell you guys that my mom is a teacher? She teaches junior high. In my head, I think about smelly boys and girls who are super dramatic….that’s probably why I don’t teach junior high. Anyway…the benefit of being a teacher is that you really do get a Spring Break every year! My mom’s school got two weeks this year (kids these days have it so easy). She spent the first week in Florida with my bother and his family and came to visit me the second week.

I had to work on Friday (what a drag) but I came home to a delicious dinner and a clean kitchen (that made me want to kidnap my mom and force her to stay forever!). We spent the weekend doing what we do best: shopping, eating, and watching movies. I was introduced to this salad which I have eaten every day since April 4th.

We watched Frozen on Friday night – my mom hadn’t seen it yet. This is my favorite seen. I want an Olaf.

We pretty much spent the entire day Saturday out shopping. I was peer pressured into buying 4 pairs of shoes and a new purse among lots of other house decorations and random Target “must haves.” We then went to a shoe shoppers anonymous meeting. Just kidding! But seriously...I need an intervention.

On Saturday night, we ate a ridiculous amount of snack food and watched a double feature of Just Go With It and Water for Elephants. Just Go With It was funny. You can’t go wrong with Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. Both of us had read Water for Elephants, but never saw the movie. The movie was great but as usual, did not live up to the book.

Despite my kidnapping attempt, my mom did leave when the weekend ended. So sad! She had to get home though to host a “Meet Levi” party. My brother and his family made the trip up to Clarksville and Levi got the meet the entire Huber family. I didn’t make it home, but I did get to skype in after class. These generation pictures are my favorite.

Do you get a Spring Break? What’s your favorite “Spring Break” activity?

What’s the last movie you watched, either at the theater or at home?

Time Traveling

Seriously – how is it already the end of July? I must have jumped in a time travel machine and gone forward a month. It’s a good thing I have photo documentation or else I might be crazy enough to think that was true! Instead of a 30 page blog post, I’ll just give you the highlights of the last month :)

Took a trip to Kings Island trip with the Huber family: I found a keychain that said, "I love Justin" and got way too excited about it.

Discovered my apartment doesn't have central air: This cool kid literally slept with ice packs when the thermostat said 92.

Took my first ride in the Super Shuttle & got to the airport to find out that my flight was delayed…surprise, surprise.

My mom hosted a Huber/Roush family cookout. We had hamburgers and I beat everyone (aka was dead last) at all of the lawn games.

JUSTIN ASKED ME TO MARRY HIM!!! (this is my favorite thing on this list!)

My beautiful cousin Shelby got married ...and I started taking notes :)

I ran with some members of my old Cross Country team and realized how out of shape I am!

Finally got to go back to Chuy's & enjoyed Mexican food with my Hot Dog (the person not the food).

Spent time with the Knox family on 4th of July.

Figured out that Justin will never take me to an outlet mall again. Good thing we don't have a wedding to plan or anything because I went a little nuts :)

Sorted through a bazillion boxes after my basement flooded...not a good day!

Justin installed a window air unit. THANK GOODNESS - no more sleeping with ice packs!

Went to the Pirate’s Game & visited with Justin's friends who were in from Baltimore.

Justin went back to Knoxville to spend time with his other fiance (his 3rd Year Paper).

Claire (my college roommate) & Sean got married! I know I have a picture of us somewhere...in the meantime, I stole this one from Facebook.

Took a tour of the old stomping grounds with Jess. Don't worry, we're not total creepers - the apt was empty for the summer. It is crazy how much I miss Butler and the city of Indianapolis.

Attended the 1st Annual Huber Family BBQ Cook-off and ate insane amounts of food.

Attended my LAST summer class! After tonight - I am 1/3 finished with my MBA :)

PS (Promise Section) - I promise I tried to keep this post short but there are just so many important things to tell you all about. I also promise that I will write another post dedicated to getting engaged for those of you asking for the details. Finally, I promise that I will blog more regularly now that I have a break from class and more time on my hands.

Grocery Shopping & Hot Pink Pants

The most exciting part of my weekend was my trip to Giant Eagle (I know. It's ok to be jealous!). I'm almost embarrassed that I spent almost two hours grocery shopping. I did walk out with lots of awesome food to get me through the next few weeks. Since I normally head directly to the frozen food sections and lean cuisines, I had no idea how much I've been missing out on!

This week I discovered Tyson pork roast, loaded mashed potatoes, and green beans. Just to be clear, I did know what green beans were before today, they just don't end up in my cart very often.

I even ate at the kitchen table tonight like a normal person. I'll let you guess how many nights a week I eat dinner on the couch while watching TV (6...and on night 7 I eat in the car on the way home from class).

Speaking of eating in the car on the way home...have you had Burger King's cheesy tots? They are my new favorite fast food item of all time, surpassing even the McDonald's double cheeseburger & Taco Bell cheesy potato burrito.

After enjoying my awesome dinner, I sat down and made a meal plan for the first time ever. Even if I never make another one, you can all sleep soundly knowing that I will not be eating one frozen meal this week!

Side note - I bought these pink pants at my happy place today and I love them. I'm totally wearing them to work every day this week because they are so awesome! Let's just hope they fit after I eat this entire bag of cookies tonight :)

Do you make a weekly meal plan?

What's your favorite fast food item?

Do you love Target as much as I do?
(Probably not. I love it so much I want to get married in a Target)
